I have benefited firsthand from Missouri Baptists
Like many others, my personal story is profoundly linked to Missouri Baptists. I was raised, baptized, licensed, and ordained in Missouri Baptist churches. I met my wife at an associational youth event. My degree is from a Missouri Baptist institution. In my family tree are teachers, deacons and worship leaders of Missouri Baptist churches. Today, I am the pastor of a great Missouri Baptist congregation. In short, I have benefited firsthand from the generosity and faithfulness of Missouri Baptists. That’s why I support the MMO. I believe in Missouri Baptists, and in what we can accomplish for the Kingdom when we partner together.

The Chin people are uniting and thriving in Missouri!
God is so good! Yes He is! On December 31, 2005 my family of five moved to Springfield, Missouri. We are part of the Chin people who are from Burma (Myanmar). Many of our people came to know the Lord Jesus Christ through the initial efforts of missionaries many years ago. Like many other people groups in the United States, the Chin people are refugees. Our family initially came here for business purposes, but my dream was that one day our community would be reunited and become a church here. One year after arriving, a family of seven who are good friends came to join us. Two months later my niece and her husband came, too, and we began to have Sunday night prayer meetings. MMO funds help us lobby for issues at the state capitol in Jefferson City
Did you know that some MMO funds are used annually to pay a stipend to our Missouri Baptist Legislative liason who lobbies for issues in Jefferson City that are important to Missouri Baptists? He works at the direction of the Christian Life Commission to make our presence known at the Missouri State Capitol and serves to represent Missouri Baptist views and report back to us when and where the Missouri Baptist Convention needs to get involved. This has been a great relationship and without MMO funding, the Christian Life Commission would be unable to serve Missouri Baptists in this way.
This service is payed for by the Christian Life Commission of the Missouri Baptist Convention. The 2010/2011 MMO Allocations Budget includes $10,000 for use by the Christian Life Commission. The Christian Life Commission of Missouri is dedicated to educating and assisting the local church on social, ethical, and moral issues; and their impact on the local church and family. You can find out more about what the Christian Life Commission is doing by visiting the Christian Life Commission Facebook page.
MMO helps us share the gospel across Missouri
I am blessed to serve a church that is committed to local, state and global missions. Giving to our state missions offering is one way God can work through us to reach others for Christ right here in Missouri. God is always faithful to us. He simply desires us to glorify Him by loving Him and serving others. I believe we should be starting new churches, sending more people and sharing the gospel to everyone in our state. I pray every person and church will faithfully give to support the work of missions in our state.
—Mark Anderson, Senior Pastor, Lynwood Baptist Church, Cape Girardeau
We support giving through the missions offering
Missions should be the heartbeat of our churches. At Hamilton Street, we have partnered with our state on mission trips that are supported by the Missouri Missions Offering. We have encouraged giving through the Missouri Missions Offering so that every corner of our state may be saturated with the gospel.
—Charles Jackson, Pastor, Hamilton Street Baptist Church, Kirksville
MMO is not just another time of collection
I believe that the Missouri Missions Offering is an incredible way for churches to give cooperatively to the cause of Christ here in our great state. Our faithful giving allows ministry and missions to go beyond what one church may be able to do on their own and gives greater impact. The MMO is not just another time of collection, it is a time for us to give towards the mission of reaching our state in the name of Jesus Christ.
—Ned Nugent, Senior Pastor, FBC Bethany
Does MMO support thrashers?
Nathan is the Student Pastor of one of our MBC churches. He was struggling with whether or not he could go on a mission team to Northern Ontario. The decision to go was in consultation with Nathan, his pastor, and Rick Hedger, Partnership Missions Specialist of the MBC. As the team traveled from one town to another, Nathan was continually drawn to those older teenagers and young adults hanging around the city skateboard parks. As the team took photos and talked to those present, one young man readily gave his life to Christ. He quickly called his friends together and told them what he had done. MMO helps us fulfill the Great Commission
In Matthew 28:19, Jesus commands us to go and make disciples. In Acts 1:8, Jesus says we will be his witnesses beginning in Jerusalem and reaching to the ends of the earth. As we read “Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and the ends of the earth,” to us it translates “Marshfield, Missouri, the United States and the world.” As a local church, we want to have people serving in each of these mission areas. The Missouri Missions Offering is a key way in which all of our people can reach across our state with the gospel. MMO helps us to reach our “Judea.” Through MMO we are sharing Jesus with people all across Missouri. Through MMO we are helping to plant new churches, train pastors and church leaders, and we are sending more people into the harvest field of Missouri. MMO helps us to do what Jesus calls us to do.
—Durwin Kicker, Pastor, FBC Marshfield
