Ice storm victim accepts Christ
Connie Handyside of the Mt. Salem Wyaconda Association chain saw unit experienced what we all pray and hope all disaster relief responses will involve. While responding after an ice storm at Cape Girardeau, Mo., Connie visited with a homeowner and shared the gospel. The Lord used her availability and witness as a disaster relief chaplain to convince that lady of her need for Jesus Christ. Connie had the privilege of leading her to faith in Christ right there on her front porch.
The Missouri Missions offering assists churches and associations in training Disaster Relief workers in the areas of mass care, providing a trailer for people to take a hot shower, learning to use a chain saw, child care, “mud out” (cleaning mud from flooded homes), assessment, and chaplains. Funds also are used for the upkeep of equipment and for maintaining the state Disaster Relief facility located at Marshall, Missouri.
