Master plan for promoting the Missouri Missions Offering

Step 1: Make a promotion plan and set a goal!

The pastor, church council and/or missions leader(s) should work together to set the offering goal, schedule promotion times on the church calendar (generally in September), and plan the promotion strategy. Include promotion in all worship services.

• Arrange to print and distribute bulletin inserts in your worship bulletin each week.
• Make offering envelopes available in every service.

Step 2: Review and order materials

There are three ways to order promotional materials:

1) Online. Fill out the new simple order form here on this website. Click here to visit the Order Materials page to order materials online.

2) Mail. Complete and mail the postage paid order card being sent to each church in the Missouri Missions Offering promotion materials packet. Watch your church mail box for the packet to arrive in late June.

3) Phone. Order by phone by calling 800-736-6227, ext. 201.

• Please do not try to order printed Bulletin Inserts. These must be duplicated at your church. Use the camera ready originals in this booklet, or the print-ready PDF computer files available on the DVD and as a download from this website.
• There is no charge for additional posters, videos, or offering envelopes.
• Order your materials early.
• Coordinate your order within your church to avoid duplication.

Step 3: Prepare a promotional sermon and show the MMO video

• Prepare a promotional sermon to tell the story and benefits of giving through the Missouri Missions Offering. Show the MMO video that shows who benefits from the offering.

Step 4: Promote the time, place, and goal in your church

• Use the enclosed posters and clip art sheet to promote the time, place and goal for your church’s Missouri Missions Offering emphasis. Provide promotional information and materials to all leadership for use by Sunday School classes and missions groups. Promote the offering emphasis from the pulpit, church newsletters and worship bulletins.

Step 5: Inform your congregation

• Following the instructions and suggestions in the materials will help your congregation understand how essential the Missouri Missions Offering is to missions support in Missouri. Feel free to copy and adapt the materials to fit the needs of your church.

Step 6: Collect the offering and Send it to Missouri Baptist Convention

• Collect the offering and submit it to Missouri Baptist Convention, 400 E. High St., Jefferson City MO 65101. The offering can be submitted using your normal MBC remittance form. Just make sure to designate the offering as “MMO”. Please submit all MMO funds by December 31, 2011.

• Posters—Use in high traffic areas such as bulletin boards, bathrooms, water fountains, and hallways.
• Bulletin Inserts—Duplicate and distribute a different insert each Sunday during the promotion emphasis. Be sure to copy both sides!
• Video (a high-resolution file is available on DVD)—Use the video as a way to build excitement by showing the benefits of the offering.
• Children’s Message and Preschool Message—Use these creative messages to illustrate the importance of the Missouri Missions Offering so that a child will understand.
• Allocations List—Use this resource to explain how the Missouri Missions Offering will be used.
• Facts Sheet—Use this information for sermons, newsletter articles, and as a supplement for Sunday School teachers.
• Clip Art Sheet, logos, and ads—Duplicate the logos and ads on bulletins, newsletters, pamphlets and other promotional materials to raise awareness about the benefits of giving through the Missouri Missions Offering.
• Offering Envelopes—Make these available in pew racks and Sunday School classrooms; include in newsletters, bulletins and offering plates.

Speakers…

Because of our improved MMO promotion video, including an offering overview and ministry segments, the Missouri Baptist Convention will not be scheduling promotional speakers this year. Please show the video to explain the benefits of giving through the Missouri Missions Offering.
