Plan now to promote MMO at your church in 2012

I believe with all my heart that God’s people want to help others with physical needs and they want to share the love of Jesus with those who do not yet know Him. As missional disciples, we want to send, pray and give money for God’s purposes.

Much of the emphasis for the Rheubin L. South Missouri Missions Offering is about praying and giving. Like the churches of Macedonia, churches across Missouri want to generously give of themselves and their money by their loving actions: Sharing Christ’s Love, Sending Missionaries, and Starting Churches.

As churches seek to educate and enlist people, state missions need to be personal. “From Me to Missouri” is a way to involve “Me” in Missouri missions. The materials used in this MMO emphasis, whether it is a simple bulletin insert or a powerful video, demonstrate how Missouri Baptists are already involved and how they can be further engaged in reaching our state for Christ.

The 2012 promotion materials are at the printer and will be mailed in June. You should expect to see it arrive at your church about July 1. We encourage you to use these materials in your church: several top quality videos for your worship services including a new count-down timer, a promotional booklet & audio and video DVD. On the DVD, you will find bulletin inserts you may copy, preschool and children’s sermons, offering envelopes and a sermon starter your pastor might consider using for a special MMO message.

There are powerful, impacting Missouri mission projects that are dependent on your church’s faithful giving to support Missouri missions through the Rheubin L. South Missouri Missions Offering. This year we encourage you to set a faith goal for your church. This year, we are sending a “progress poster” with decals that you can use to chart your progress. Plus, see how many individual projects your church can do for the sake of the Gospel!

Mission activity and mission giving begin on our knees. This year, we offer a new eight-day prayer guide for a “Week of Prayer for the Missouri Missions Offering” much like we use for the International and North American mission offerings. It is our hope that this will assist you in preparing the hearts of your people for the Missouri Missions Offering. The suggested date for the week of prayer is September 9-16.

In today’s Internet age, we are able to share electronically as well as personally. Our MMO web resources make it easier than ever to get our message of Sharing, Sending and Starting out to Missouri Baptists.
